Editing a Purchase

Updated on May 1, 2024

Occasionally you may run across a need to edit someone's purchase, such as the billing contact email, address, or maybe the currency or taxes or discount the purchase. Or maybe the subscription settings need to be updated.

Well, you can easily do this on the Purchase screen...

  1. Locate the purchase either within the Product or via the Purchases tab under Products

  2. You will be taken to the Purchase screen.

  3. In the upper right-hand corner of this page, click on the Edit button:

  4. You will be directed to the Edit screen. From here scroll down until you locate the area you want to update

  5. Scroll down and click the Save changes button.

Updating an Affiliate on the Purchase

If the product is part of an Affiliate program and you need to change the Affiliate on the purchase, follow steps 1-4 above and scroll down to the Affiliate section:

NOTE! Changing the affiliate will reattribute all pre-existing charges. Commission amounts on pre-existing charges will not be changed though.

You can read more about Affiliate Purchases in our guide here.

Updating a Discount

  1. If the price was a "Purchase" and not a Subscription you will need to calculate the full discount of their purchase so if it's $30 over 12 instalments, the amount you’ll put in is $360.

  2. If you’re updating a "Subscription" then you’ll put in the discount amount that comes off the instalment and you can check the box to apply to future instalments.

  3. Once you save your changes, you’ll need to go in and manually update any invoices that were already generated on a completed purchase. This will not occur automatically by updating the purchase.

Other Things to Note

  1. If you’re updating currency you will need to make sure all currency options are set up in your Account settings

  2. If you’re updating the date of the current access period, this will affect when the contact is billed next.

  3. If you’re updating how long has the customer committed to remaining subscribed until this will prevent your customer from canceling their subscription prior to the date you enter.
