Changing your URLs midstream

Updated Mar 11, 2025

This guide explains what happens when you want to change your URLs midstream. If you have just started in Simplero and want to add your custom URL, head to this guide instead.

In this guide:

Changing your canonical URL (Simplero URL)

Your canonical URL is the one living under your Change your URL settings. It ends with simplero.com. This is the one we use for your admin site and for any pages that don't have a custom URL (surveys, worksheets, scheduling links, etc).

It is usually NOT a good idea to change it unless you are just starting and you haven't shared your content with many people. Check with support if you are unsure.

Before you change it, be aware of the following that changing your Simplero URL will create new links (and break current links) to:
  • Your main website and any pages that live under your main website URL - If you have a custom domain, you can continue to use it but you will need to update your DNS provider values for it to point to the right site. (specifically your CNAME)
  • The admin side - Your admin URL will be a new one. You can continue to log in with your Simplero ID as usual but just make sure you log in to your new URL (newURL.simplero.com/admin)
  • Surveys
  • Landing pages - If using their default URL or pointing to the main website
  • Funnels - If using the default URL
  • Affiliate account pages
  • User account pages
  • Order forms, Catalog and Invoices
  • Worksheets
  • Events
  • Scheduling links

Adding a custom URL to my site after I am already using my Simplero URL

  • All the pages under the Simplero URL will not break. They will continue twork (the Simplero URL will always work/exist even if a custom domain is also pointing to the site).
    • If someone searches for your new custom domain, they will see all the pages with the same slugs that were originally added (now living on the custom domain URL).
    • However, if you search for your Simplero URL, you will still be able to see all the pages living on the site with the same slugs that were originally added (the Simplero URL will still work).
For your main site, we have the option to redirect:

If you want all the pages living on the Simplero URL to redirect to your new custom URL. You can select the option “Redirect non-admin requests from Simplero URL to custom domain”.

Note! This option only appears once you verify your custom domain and point it to the Main Site.

This setting will cause us to redirect the Simplero URL pages to the custom domain pages (keeping the same slug on each page, and simply changing the root domain to be your custom URL.

Changing your custom URL to a new custom URL

  • All the pages under the Simplero URL will not break. They will continue twork (the Simplero URL will always work/exist even if a custom domain is also pointing to the site).
  • If someone searches for your new custom domain, they will see all the pages with the same slugs that were originally added (now living on the custom domain URL).
  • As per the old custom URL, you can ask your domain provider to permanently redirect your old custom URL to your new custom URL.
