PDF Stamping

Updated on 9 Mar 2021

PDF stamping is a popular way to discourage people from sharing e-books widely, by adding a text such as Prepared_exclusively.png to the bottom of each page in the PDF file.

It is only available for PDF files distributed through the “Digital downloads” mechanism, not through spaces or membership sites.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Select Settings from your Simplero Dashboard
  2. Select the Products tab
  3. Scroll down to the PDF stamping section
  4. In the PDF stamp text area, customize the text you want to be stamped on each page of your PDF files to discourage copying
  5. Scroll down to the bottom and click the blue Save changes button
  6. Go to the Media files and upload the PDF
    • Select Content from your Simplero Dashboard
    • Select the Media files tab
    • Click the blue Upload button in the upper right corner

    • Browse your computer for your PDF file, select it, and click the Open button
      Select_PDF_file
    • Do not close your browser until the upload is complete or it will fail
  7. Create a digital download product
    • Select Products from your Simplero Dashboard
    • Select the Products tab
    • Select a product from your listed products
    • Select the Content tab from the Summary menu

    • In the Content files section, click the white + Add file button to add your PDF

    • The Add media file pop-up screen will open
    • Select the PDF tab
    • Select the PDF file and then click the blue Add selected button
      Add_file_for_content_digital_downloads.png
    • From the Content files section, click the drop-down menu under the heading Stamp
      Select_Stamp_for_digital_download
    • Choose whether you want the PDF file to be stamped at the Top or the Bottom of the pages, depending on the layout of the ebook.
    • Scroll down to the bottom and click the blue Save changes button
