Before we get into Downsells, it’s important to know what Upsells are - here’s our guide on Upsells.
Using an Upsell is a great way to increase sales for your online business. You get to offer a second product directly after someone purchases something from you - before arriving at the ‘Thank You Page’. The thing is, what if someone says ‘no’?
When using the Upsell feature in Simplero, if the customer takes advantage of the Upsell by clicking ‘yes’, they’re directed through the process of purchasing that product.
But if they hit ‘no’, we take them to the ‘Thank You Page’ for the original product they purchased.
Unless you add a Downsell!
That’s right - With Simplero, you have one more feature you can add to your sales funnel… and it’s called a Downsell.
Let’s say someone says ‘no’ to the Upsell offer, and instead of sending them to the ‘Thank You Page’, you want to offer them a coupon code for the Upsell product in case they change their mind later, or want to show them a custom page that contains another offer that has a lower price point instead. These are both examples of Downsells.
NOTE! To get started with using Downsells, you’ll first need at least two products set up, and one of those products already set up as an Upsell. Here’s our guide on how to set up an Upsell.
Once you’re ready to setup your Downsell, simply follow these steps:
Create your Landing page to display when someone says ‘No’ to your Upsell.
Select Sales >> Products from your Simplero Dashboard:
Once on your Products page, locate and select the product you’ve already set up with an Upsell.
After you’ve clicked on your product, select the Upselling tab:
NOTE! If you’ve arrived at this step and haven’t created an Upsell yet, you need to do so now. Here’s our guide on how to setup an Upsell.
In the Upsells section, click on the link to Add a downsell:
Select the product offer for the Downsell, and this time paste the URL for the landing page you just created for the Downsell into the External Sales page URL field.
Your Product Upsell with the newly added Downsell will look like this:
As you can see, you can add as many Upsells or Downsells as you want, per your business needs. We recommend you use no more than two Upsells and two Downsells per product so you don’t negatively impact your customers’ user experience.
Happy Selling!
