Uploading Media Files
Simplero strives to support all types of media files. Try it and see! However, if you're considering using something really unusual, do a test upload to make sure it works. Contact our customer support team with any questions or media file issues. Uploading Media Files Select Content from your Simplero Dashboard Select the Media library tab Click the blue Upload... button in the upper right corner Browse your computer for your media file, select it, and click the Open button Do not close your browser until the upload is complete. You can navigate away as soon as the ‘encoding’ process begins. That happens in the background. Note: If some of your versions' conversion show as skipped after uploading, this usually means that the quality is not available in the original file. For example, if your video is not in 4K, the 4K version will show as skipped.  Editing Alt Text To add alt text for images, you will need to go to your media library. From there, add a column: Choose “Alt text” and click on Update: A new column will show for the Alt text. You can now click on the edit pencil to modify it: For page builder 2.0, when you add an image, you also have the option to personalize it on the right-hand side:

Auto-generated subtitles We offer transcripts and auto-generated subtitles in your videos. Those are limited depending on the plan you are on. We integrate with Deepgram to generate transcripts and subtitles. Find supported languages on Deepgram’s documentation. Go to the asset admin page and click on Transcribe to get the transcription and subtitles generated automatically. Settings If you use captions and subtitles in your videos, you can now turn them on in your Account Settings -> Media Files. Otherwise, they will be off by default. You can also default video subtitles to on.  Correcting Errors in Auto-generated Subtitles If there are any errors on the generated subtitles, you can download them, make the necessary edits, and replace them with the new version. Go to the asset admin page, and scroll down to the versions table, then download the subtitles file. Once you’ve edited the file and saved the new version, click on Replace subtitles on the right sidebar.

You can either upload your own transcription file OR you can translate them automatically. Find ‘Transcribe’ button on your video and audio assets page. You can set certain parameters when you do, such as the language and if there’s more than one speaker. Simplero integrates with Deepgram to generate transcriptions. Languages supported can be found on Deepgram’s documentation. We use the base model. It may take a few minutes to generate the transcript. Refresh the page to find the transcript, an auto-generated summary and list of topics, at the end of the asset page. Transcripts in Lessons Course participants will be able to: Show video generated transcripts in video lessons: Follow the highlighted phrases on the transcript as the video goes on. Click on any phrase on the transcript and we'll take them right to that spot on the video. Check it out live here! If you have videos or audio in the additional content section of the lesson, you have the option to see the transcript for that file as long as it is embedded. This is only available in the New Site Experience: This will update the transcript listed on the right side of the lesson with the transcript for that file. You’re able to show the transcript of the main video or audio when you start playing the content again Settings If you use captions and subtitles in your videos, you can go to your Account Settings >> Media Files: And you have the option to automatically transcribe new videos and audios: You also have the option to: Select a default transcription language. It will detect automatically unless you select otherwise. Select Transcription keywords that may be uncommonly used words that are likely to be in your media assets. Decide to show the auto-generated subtitles for the media player. This is specific to video files Select the option to default the video subtitles to be on. Disclaimer! Transcripts cannot be edited if they are being automatically generated. If you want to have the option to be able to edit the transcript, you’ll want to upload your own transcript file. Keywords are also not 100% accurate. In those cases where the transcript is not as accurate as you would expect it to be, you can turn them On/Off at the video level on the right side-bar: Show in player and Show in lesson.

Bookmarks
Bookmarks Navigate to any of your video or audio assets inside of your media library to find the Bookmarks section. They will be located below the video or audio. You can add a new one by selecting the time within the video as well as the description. Then press add: Edit the timestamp, and the content of the bookmark using the “Edit” icon that shows on hovering. You are also able to delete the existing ones. If you are using Transcripts, you’ll be able to generate Bookmarks automatically! Once you’ve generated the transcript, you have the option to generate bookmarks from the transcript summary: Once Your Bookmarks have been created, the menu for the bookmarks will update with new options: Merging the transcript summary with the bookmarks. This would then add any manually created bookmarks within the transcript for the video. Note: Using this option will include the auto generated bookmarks AND any manually created bookmarks.  Replace bookmarks with transcript summary. This will result in any manually created bookmarks being erased and replaced with those auto-generated through the transcript. Once you’ve created those bookmarks, they will show up on the lesson that media is added to on the right side: In the new experience, if you have embedded videos in the additional content, then you’re able to select the option to see the bookmarks for that video as well. Once you click the bookmarks option for that video: Then the bookmarks on the right side of the lesson will update to show you the bookmarks of that video instead. You have the option to revert back to the bookmarks of the original/main content when playing that video. Clicking on the timestamp will take you to that point on the recording and allow them to start playing it at that point. Your contacts are also able to create bookmarks for themselves by clicking on the transcript and selecting the bookmark icon: These bookmarks are only visible to them and are not added to the video bookmarks themselves.

Picking a Different Video Still
How Do I Pick a Different Video Still? Say you're looking at a video in your course and want to change the still frame. Or you have a video on a landing page, and the still frame it uses is not what you'd like. Well, this is super quick and easy! Follow these steps Select Content from you Simplero Dashboard Select the Media files tab: . Select Videos from the menu tabs and choose your video Scroll down to the Default still frame section and choose which still frame to use Click on one of the predefined frames, this will now be used as your thumbnail The image that is the current thumbnail will have the thick black box around it.  If you'd like to instead have a gif of your video, you'll want to select one of the animated options. They are always the last on the list: Not happy with any of the ones we grabbed for you? Click the play button on the video When the frame you want to use is in view, click the green "Use current frame as the still frame" button: We'll grab that frame in the background and set it as the still frame If you want to generate an animated frame instead, you'll click generate animated fram and it will grab 3 second clip where you paused it: Marketing tip Pick a frame where you look really silly! Why do you ask? It will capture their attention! Especially if it's an animated frame :)

PDF Stamping
PDF stamping is a popular way to discourage people from sharing e-books widely, by adding a text such as Prepared exclusively for on to the bottom of each page in the PDF file. It is only available for PDF files distributed through the Content File on a Product, not through Membership Sites. Here’s what to do: Select the gear icon from your Simplero Dashboard to go to your Settings Select the Products tab Scroll down to the PDF stamping section In the PDF stamp text area, customise the text you want to be stamped on each page of your PDF files to discourage copying Scroll down to the bottom and click the Save changes button Create a digital download product Select Sales from your Simplero Dashboard Click the Products tab Choose a product from your listed products Select the Settings tab and then the Content tab: In the Content files section, click the + Add file button to add your PDF: Click the Upload tab and press Browse… NOTE! Alternatively, you can open your computer folder and drag the file onto the Media Library page Browse your computer for your PDF file, select it, and click the Open button Do not close your browser until the upload is complete or it will fail Press Add selected once the file has uploaded From the Content files section, click the drop-down menu under the heading Stamp: Choose whether you want the PDF file to be stamped at the Top or the Bottom of the pages, depending on the layout of the ebook. Scroll down to the bottom and click the Save changes button

Protecting Your Content
A common question from Simplero users is "How do I prevent people from taking my content and sharing it elsewhere?" Simplero gives you the choice to either allow or not allow people to download the content you share with your customers and subscribers. We make either one easy! As with any system (even Wistia / Youtube / Facebook), hackers or programmers who have advanced knowledge and software can probably find a way around download-prevention controls. That's not specific to Simplero; that's just how the internet works.  We do everything we can to protect your content if you want us to.  We strongly recommend that you develop meaningful relationships with your customers, keep an eye out for any unusual activity in your account, and don't hesitate to reach out to us via Support if you have any questions!

Editing Images
We've added the Image editor, which is part of the new WYSIWYG editor. It's a neat little feature to make your life a little easier when creating content. Here's how to use it:  Add an image using the toolbar in the text editor. If you use the legacy editor, it would look like this: Select the image Click the "Image editor" button shown on the center of the image. This will bring up the Image Editor UI. Alternatively, you can also edit your images from the media file picker. Hover over the file you’d like to edit and then select the paintbrush icon. You can now easily make your images pop without going through the hassle of finding and using a desktop image editor. The Image Editor allows you to make a wide range of changes to your images, from adjusting the contrast to applying filters.  Apply Filters:  Crop it Adjust the color settings for the image:  Focus Add a Frame Apply an overlay  Add text directly on the image Add special formatted text  Add Stickers Use the paint brush to draw directly on the image

Embed Content Using HTML or a Script Section
At the End of This Lesson You can embed third-party content into emails, course content, site pages, or landing pages using either the HTML editor or a Script section. Before You Start Your Simplero account is active (embedding is not available during a trial for security reasons). You have the embed code provided by the third-party service. You have access to edit the email, course, site page, or landing page where you want to add the content. In This Guide Embedding Content using the Source Code button Use a HTML element on a 2.0 builder page (Deprecated) Use a Script section on a Legacy page Embedding Content using the Source Code Button You can embed content in a content box in most places across Simplero: Email body, body content in a course, the text box on a Legacy landing or site page. You can do this in the WYSIWYG editor. Click the HTML button located in the upper right corner of the toolbar, the last button the looks like "< >" The Source code screen will open Paste the embedded code where you want it  Click the blue Ok button when done and you will be switched back to WYSIWYG mode HTML Element on a 2.0 Builder Page You can add HTML code onto a 2.0 Builder page using an HTML element. Make sure your account is no longer in the trial period. Embedding is disabled during trials for security reasons. The embedded content doesn't appear or doesn't work correctly. Some embed codes may conflict with Simplero or with other scripts on the page. If this happens, test the embed in a different location or check with the provider of the embed code. You're Done When... The embedded content appears in the desired location. The content loads and functions as expected after publishing or previewing the page.
How to insert media into a broadcast
Insert and Edit Media
Want to include a video in your email? Unfortunately, email clients such as Gmail or Outlook won't show videos in emails.  But wait! Simplero is smarter than that. Just insert your video into your email with Simplero, and we'll magically make it work. How do we do it? We take a still frame of your video, put a "play" button on top, and insert that into your email for you. When people click that, the email opens in their browser, and the video plays perfectly. All this is handled for you. All you have to do is click a button and upload the video. Boom! Insert Media From the Media Library This will work in a broadcast, autoresponder, landing page, or anywhere you're inserting media into the body of a content block. In the email Body area of your content, select the folder icon (Media library). The Insert media file screen will open. Select the media you want to insert and click the Insert selected button. If the media is not in your Media library, select the Upload link from the top menu. Click the Browse button to select your media file from your computer. Locate and select the media file from your computer, and click the Open button. You can edit the image appearance such as size and alignment if you wish and/or simply click the Insert selected button. Alternate Option for Inserting Images This will work in a broadcast, autoresponder, landing page, or anywhere you're inserting media into the body of a content block. In the email Body area of your content, select the Mountain landscape icon (Insert image). The Insert/edit image screen will open. Click the Upload image button. Locate and select the media file from your computer, and click the Open button. You'll be redirected to the Insert/edit image screen. Enter the Image description if you want and click the OK button. Alternate Option for Inserting Media in a Content Block Anytime you're working on a page within your Membership site, there's the option to insert media into a content block. Select Content from your Simplero Dashboard. Select Membership sites from the dropdown menu. Select a Site from your list. Select the Courses tab. Select a Course and click the Lesson you want to insert the media file into. In the Additional content section, there's an option to Add media file and/or Add worksheet. Edit an Image We've added the Image editor, which is part of the new WYSIWYG editor. It's a neat little feature to make your life a little easier when creating content. Here's how to use it:  Select any image within your page. Click the image editor button shown on top of the image. This will bring up the Image Editor. You can now easily make your images pop without going through the hassle of finding and using a desktop image editor. The TOAST UI's Image Editor allows you to make a wide range of changes to your images, from adjusting the contrast to applying filters.  Embed Videos When embedding a video, most client email providers won't allow you to watch the video in the broadcast itself. The viewer will need to click on the video, and it will open in a web browser, where they can watch it.  Generally speaking, this means you'll need a still frame linked to the video URL. Simplero handles this detail automatically when you add a video from your media library to a broadcast or a library mailing. When you send out the broadcast, Simplero substitutes the embedded video with the selected still frame. The still frame links to where the video will be played. This all happens behind the scenes for videos in your media library – it won't work if you try to embed a YouTube or Vimeo video in your broadcast. In that case, you'll need to manually insert a frame from the video as an image and link to the video on YouTube or Vimeo. Line Up Pictures and Text in a Broadcast In the email Body area of your content, select the Folder icon (Media library). The Insert media file screen will open. Select the media you want to insert and click the Insert selected button. You'll be redirected to the Insert media file screen. In the Align area, select the Right, Left, or Center Alignment option and select Insert selected button. You can also click any image within your page and select an Alignment button from the menu bar. You can also type your text within your page, highlight it and click an Alignment button from the menu bar. Check out the video below for more details.  Note: When adding MP3 or MP4 to a membership site page, they can only be added via the Media File option in the Content area. If you try to add one of those files to the Body of the content area, it will only show as an image.  Also, uploading directly from a URL can cause the photo to not be responsive on a membership site page. To get the ideal sizing, it's best to upload via the media library.

Images on Order forms
When editing the order form for a product, there are several ways to show images. The most important image is the product card image, which is set in the Configure menu of the product. The recommended size for this is 16:9 aspect ratio, with a minimum size of 800 x 450 pixels.  The product image appears on the right-hand side of a computer. The product card image is also used as an icon for the product on the customer's account page. Order form view on a Computer: On mobile phones, the product image is not displayed.  Order form on a mobile: If you prefer to have an image on your mobile order form, you can create a landing page using the order form as an element and add the image to it.

Troubleshooting Videos
What to Do If My Customer's Video Won't Download and/or Play? If videos aren't playing for you, that's a problem. Let's get it fixed. In order to find out what the problem is, we're going to need some information from the person experiencing the issue. Clear your cache and cookies in your browser and try again. Still not playing? Go to step #2 Try in another browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Internet Explorer, iPad). Is it still not playing? Go to step #3 If you can, try another internet provider, eg, at home, at the office, via your cell phone, at your neighbor's, a coffee shop, etc. Now we get technical: Make a "traceroute" to "files.simplero.com". Here's how to do that. If all the above is not working, reach out to us! We will need the following information to be able to help: The link to the page where the video is Who is having the problem Which device and browser are you using Roughly what time the affected user tried to play one of the videos We know it's a lot to ask, but if you help us get to the bottom of a problem, then chances are that problem is never gonna happen again, and we can all happily watch videos for the rest of this world. My video is not playing in 4k We don't support 4k videos. You can upload them, but the maximum they will play inside Simplero is 1080p (HD). If this is important to you, go ahead and add a feature request to our platform. Our Product team actively monitors the board, and gathering support from other members can help prioritize your idea.

Troubleshooting Upload issues
How to Deal with Upload Problems Sometimes files won't seem to make it from your computer to our server. Here's what to do when that happens. Select Content from your Simplero Dashboard Select the Media files tab. This is the most robust place from which to upload files Then make sure you (or your family!) are not using up your bandwidth on Netflix or other heavy usage services. Then try again. If the upload is still really slow, or not progressing at all, there are a few things you can do: Restart your browser (and maybe even your computer), and don't open up any other tabs or windows other than the Simplero one. Check your connection speed here (it's the upload speed that's important here) with 1 Mbps upload 100 MB will take up to 15 mins and 1 GB will take 2½ hours, with 25 Mbps the estimated upload times will be 30 secs for 100 MB and 6 mins for 1 GB, all estimates highly dependent on other activities on your network.  File size itself is rarely the issue, as there is no limit on the size. If that still doesn't seem to do the trick, try another internet connection, eg. upload using your mobile phone, or from a local coffee shop or library or a neighbor. You'll want to try a few different upload locations a few times each. You can use the Add from a URL... button to upload a direct link to a file on Dropbox, Google Drive or even Amazon S3. Usually, that'll fix it, and the next time you try to upload from your normal location, it'll probably work again. The internet is fussy sometimes. Worst case, if you can put the file somewhere that we can get to it, such as with a Dropbox share link, we can download it from there and upload it for you. Just click the blue "?" from your Simplero Dashboard (located on the bottom right of your screen, start a support ticket, and give us the URL for the file you want us to upload.

Troubleshooting Lost Images
Some screenshot apps paste images by linking to their repository instead of adding the image to the actual content. If, at some point, those links break or the screenshot file gets removed from that app repository, the image will no longer be available wherever it’s been embedded on. For that reason, we strongly recommend uploading images following the instructions in this guide.

Video Analytics
Do you want to know if your members are watching your videos? The average percentage of the video viewed? At which point they start losing interest? When you go into your Media Library and select a file, it will take you to your admin page of the video. Above the video, you will be able to see: Total Playing Time- This is the total amount of time of all of the plays for all members.  Average Engagement - This is the average percent of the video that people are watching the video.  Average Play Duration - The average length of time for each time time the video was played.  Total Plays - The total number of times it's been played. This could be various incomplete times watching the video.  Unique IPs - These are the number of different IPs that have played the video. Similar to the unique views on the page Unique users - These are the number of logged-in users who have watched the video. Those are the ones that are already on your system and were logged in at the time they watched it. Important notes! We're tracking account contact views in the following cases: On pause but only after at least 5 seconds of watching. On video end. We don't track views for non-contacts At the top right hand corner of the media file, you'll have an option to show analytics on the video: When you click to show the analytics, then it will overlay over the video. For example on a different video: How to interpret the blue graph The timeline shows where play sessions occurred: Spikes are places you rewatched or jumped to Drops are places you skipped or stopped And hovering over the graph will show the % of active play sessions at each second How to read common patterns in the graph: High at the Beginning = Strong Initial Interest Most videos start with a tall section near 0:00. This is normal and simply shows that viewers pressed play and started watching. Gradual Downward Slope = Normal Viewer Drop-Off A slow, steady decline throughout the video is expected. It indicates that some viewers are leaving over time, which happens with nearly every video. Sharp Drops = Attention Loss Points Sudden dips or steep declines often signal moments where viewers lost interest or chose to leave. Common causes include: A long introduction A confusing explanation Off-topic content Audio or visual issues Information viewers already know These are the moments where viewers may be thinking, "This isn't for me" or "I already know this." Spikes Upward = Rewatches or Skips Spikes typically indicate that viewers found something especially valuable. They can happen when viewers: Rewatch an important section Rewind to hear something again Skip ahead to a specific point in the video Spikes are usually a positive sign, showing high interest or usefulness. Flat Sections = Consistent Engagement When the graph remains relatively level for a period of time, it suggests that viewers are staying engaged. This often means: The content matches viewer expectations The pacing is effective The information remains relevant and interesting Flat sections are generally a sign that the content is holding attention successfully. Track member plays If the video has been watched by your logged-in members, you'll be able to switch over the to the 'members' view: As long as someone is logged into their Simplero account, they'll be able to be listed under the members view: Members view will show: Name - This will be their contact name. If you click on it, it will take you directly to their contact record.  Email - The email address associated with them. Plays - The number of times they've played the video.  Average duration - the average length of time that the specific contact watched the video  Last login - The last time that they logged into Simplero.  Sites they viewed on - Where they watched the video at. If you have multiple places that your video is hosted, then it would create a new line for the same member but a different site. For example: Important! We only save them if they are a site member or a space member. You will not see the member tab when the video is placed in a landing page.
