At the top right hand corner of the media file, you'll have an option to show analytics on the video:
When you click to show the analytics, then it will overlay over the video. For example on a different video:
The timeline shows where play sessions occurred:
Spikes are places you rewatched or jumped to
Drops are places you skipped or stopped
And hovering over the graph will show the % of active play sessions at each second
High at the Beginning = Strong Initial Interest
Most videos start with a tall section near 0:00. This is normal and simply shows that viewers pressed play and started watching.
Gradual Downward Slope = Normal Viewer Drop-Off
A slow, steady decline throughout the video is expected. It indicates that some viewers are leaving over time, which happens with nearly every video.
Sharp Drops = Attention Loss Points
Sudden dips or steep declines often signal moments where viewers lost interest or chose to leave. Common causes include:
A long introduction
A confusing explanation
Off-topic content
Audio or visual issues
Information viewers already know
These are the moments where viewers may be thinking, "This isn't for me" or "I already know this."
Spikes Upward = Rewatches or Skips
Spikes typically indicate that viewers found something especially valuable. They can happen when viewers:
Rewatch an important section
Rewind to hear something again
Skip ahead to a specific point in the video
Spikes are usually a positive sign, showing high interest or usefulness.
Flat Sections = Consistent Engagement
When the graph remains relatively level for a period of time, it suggests that viewers are staying engaged. This often means:
The content matches viewer expectations
The pacing is effective
The information remains relevant and interesting
Flat sections are generally a sign that the content is holding attention successfully.
