Lead Scores

What is a Lead Score?

A Lead Score is a number Simplero assigns to each contact, based on their engagement with you. It helps prioritise leads based on their level of interest, engagement, or fit with the product or service being offered. Think of it as a quick, at-a-glance "interest level" tracker.

It can be used for things like:

  • Assessing the likelihood of a lead (a potential customer) becoming a paying customer.
  • Segmenting your audience by warmth - This can help you decide on different strategies, such as inviting them to a call, making offers, and creating re-engaging campaigns.
  • Prioritizing sales/outreach - This can help you focus on high-scoring contacts first, since they’re most likely to convert.
  • Rewarding engagement - For members who are already part of your community, you can offer rewards based on their activity
  • Spotting at-risk customers - You can trigger check-in emails or surveys when their score falls below a threshold.
  • Measure Effectiveness of Campaigns - Compare average lead scores before vs after a campaign to see if it actually warms people up.

All of your customers will have a lead score of 0 by default. You can then create triggers and assign specific scores to them. You decide

How do I decide if a Lead Score is high or low for my contacts?

You decide! The thresholds for high and low lead scores aren’t universal. They depend on your business model, funnel length, and how much engagement typically happens before someone buys.

Once you decide which actions will increase or decrease it, in your case, you can determine what would be a high or low score for your business.

How to Manually Adjust the Lead Score in Simplero

  1. Select Contacts >> Contacts from your Simplero dashboard
  2. Select the contacts you want to adjust the score for
  3. Click on Select action
  4. Choose Adjust Lead Score

  5. You can then choose the amount that you want to increase or decrease the lead score by (tip: choose a negative amount to decrease it!)

How to Use Triggers to Adjust Lead Scores in Simplero

You can add triggers that increase someone’s lead score after they perform a specific action (such as purchasing a product, subscribing to a list, etc). You define the actual value that you give to each action. It requires a mix of data, intuition, and refinement over time, and it will depend on what is important for your business.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Select Contacts >> Lists or Sales >> Products from your Simplero dashboard

  2. Head to the Content tab

  3. Scroll down to the Triggers section and press the blue + Add Trigger button

  4. Choose the Event you want the trigger to fire for (ie. when Participant: Activated)

  5. Select Adjust lead score as the action

    • Enter a positive amount to increase the score, and a negative amount to decrease it

  6. Give it an explanation and press the blue Create trigger button:

NOTE! Don’t forget to press the Save changes button after this, if you added the trigger to a Product or a List under the Content tab:

Other actions you can add a trigger to that will increase their lead score:

  • Completing a Course Lesson

  • Registering and/or Attending an Event

  • Submitting a Worksheet and/or Survey

  • Scheduling a 1:1 Session (via a Scheduling Link)

  • Joining a Site

  • Clicking a Link in an Email

  • Selecting an Option on a Form

  • And more!

How to target a customer based on their Lead Score

Once you’ve added the trigger(s) that increase or decrease someone’s lead score after they perform certain actions, you can now target and re-target those leads using Global Triggers. For example, you can add a trigger when someone goes above or below a lead score:

That way, you can drop them into a sales funnel or re-engage with them if their lead score starts to drop.

Here’s our guide on how to use Global Triggers to accomplish this.
