Choice menus let you create a guided flow for customers who want to cancel their subscription. Instead of losing them right away, you present options — like downgrading, pausing, or continuing at a lower plan — so they can make an informed decision before leaving.

Create a choice menu

  1. Go to Settings → Marketing Settings → Choice menus

  2. Click New choice menu

  3. Give it a name, an optional intro text (shown before the options), and an optional asset (intro media like an image or video)

  4. Click Create choice menu

Add options

Once the menu is created, you can add options. Each option has:

  • Title — the label the customer sees and taps

  • Description — a short explanation of what this option does

  • Action — what happens if they pick it:

    • Do nothing — just record their choice

    • Pause their subscription — they'll confirm and give a reason first

    • Cancel their subscription — they'll confirm and give a reason first

    • Downgrade to the shortest cheaper price — they'll confirm the switch first

You can also choose what the customer sees after picking an option:

  • Show default result — the manage purchase page (for purchase actions) or a success message

  • Show a custom message — your own rich text

  • Redirect to a URL — any page, scheduling link, or order form

  • Go to another choice menu — continue to a nested menu for more options

Add as many options as you need — a solid retention flow typically has at least 3 (e.g., Downgrade, Pause, Cancel).

Connect the menu to a subscription product

  1. Go to your subscription product → Options tab

  2. Under Subscription changes → Retention, select Show a custom choice menu when a customer tries to cancel

  3. Pick the choice menu you just created

Now, when a customer clicks "Cancel your subscription," they'll see your choice menu options instead of an immediate cancellation.

Note! Choice menus are only available on Skyrocket plan.
