Selling AI access to your customers

Each Simplero plan has a set of AI credits included in your account for free. These credits include AI usage in admin (media file transcription, lesson descriptions generation, survey summaries, etc.) and by your customers when they use AI features on your sites/bots. If you allow your customers to use AI in your account (via Bots or search), you can:

  1. Set a free usage allowance
  2. Add your own markup by creating a Credits product
  3. Limit AI Usage per site and/or bot
  4. Allow customers to to check their AI Usage
  5. Check Customers' AI Usage from the admin side

Set up an AI Limit for your customers

The AI usage that your customers do inside your account (bots, search...) will be consumed from the AI Credits in your account. This is why you might want to set an allowance:

  • Go to Settings - AI usage & Limits
  • Set up a limit on the AI credit your customers can use for free (from your Account AI credit). You can set it per day, per week, per month... 

Once they reach the AI limit, your customers will see a warning and the option to buy more credit for their own usage:

Use your custom credit to charge for overcharges

By default, Simplero will charge your customers directly for any overcharges. However, you might want to charge a markup on your customers' AI usage. To do that:

  1. Go to Sales -> Products
  2. Create a credits product. This is the one you will use to charge for your AI credits 

  3. Go to Settings - AI usage & Limits
  4. Turn on the toggle Use your custom credit to charge your customer overages
  5. Choose the credit product you created

Limit AI Usage per site and/or bot

If required, you can override the amount of available credits and custom credit to charge. You can do this:

  • Per Bot: Under Bot settings

  • Per Site. Go to the Site -> Configure page:


How can Customers check their AI Usage?

Members can see their AI usage on the profile bubble at the top right corner > AI Usage:

They can check their balance, the renewal date, and view history:

They’ll have access to their usage history, buy more credits, and set up Auto Top-Up.

  • Go to your Bot -> Conversations tab
  • Check the Credits Used and Cost column:

When does the reset happen?

  • Rolling X days/weeks/months from the customer's first message

Roughly how many credits does a single query consume

  • It's not possible to answer this. It varies wildly. It's a complicated system. Invoking a lot of different billing models. It depends on the input, attachments, attached sources, and output length. Check our Understanding AI Usage guide to understand how this works.
