Move Your Domain DNS Management to Simplero

Note: This is not a necessary step. You can continue to manage your domain records from your provider and simply add Simplero's records there. If you prefer to do that, check this guide instead.

Why Move Your DNS to Simplero?

Your domain name (like yourbusiness.com) needs instructions that tell the internet where your website lives and which services are allowed to send emails on your behalf. These instructions are called DNS records.

By moving your DNS management to Simplero, Simplero becomes responsible for managing those instructions for you. This means:

  • Simplero can automatically set up the email records needed to improve email delivery.
  • Future updates for Simplero services can happen automatically without requiring manual changes.
  • You can manage your DNS records from one place instead of using your domain provider's tools.

Important! You still keep ownership of your domain with your existing provider (such as GoDaddy, Hover, or Namecheap). You're only changing where the DNS settings are managed.

At the End of This Lesson

You'll have your domain using Simplero's name servers so Simplero can manage your DNS records and automatically set up the email authentication records needed for sending emails.

Before You Start

  • Access to your domain registrar (the company where you bought your domain, such as Hover, GoDaddy, or Namecheap)
  • A list of any existing subdomains or custom DNS records you currently use (for example: www, shop, members, or custom email services)
    • Important: Simplero cannot automatically detect or import subdomains. You'll need to add those manually later.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1. Add Your Domain in Simplero

  1. Go to Settings → Domains
  2. Add a Domain.

Note: If your domain already exists in your Settings -> Email settings, click Move to Simplero instead.

Step 2. Update Your Name Servers at Your Domain Provider

  1. Log in to your domain registrar (the company where you purchased your domain).
  2. Find the Name Server settings (this will vary depending on your domain provider)
  3. Replace the existing values with the four name servers provided by Simplero.

Step 3. Wait for Verification

DNS changes take time to spread across the internet.

  • Verification may happen quickly.
  • In some cases, it can take up to 48 hours.

During this period, some visitors may still see the old settings while others see the new ones.

Once complete, your domain will show as Verified in Simplero.

Step 4. [Only if Required] Import or Add Any Subdomains

If you are using subdomains, after verification, use Import Subdomain to bring over any subdomains you use. You can also add, edit, or delete any DNS records on your domain.

Simplero will automatically create the records required for secure email sending, including SPF and DKIM.

Troubleshooting

  • My domain isn't verified yet.
Wait up to 48 hours for DNS propagation to complete.

  • My website stopped working after switching.
Check that all required website records (such as A records and www entries) were added to Simplero before changing name servers.

  • A subdomain is missing.
Use Import Subdomain or manually recreate the DNS records. Subdomains cannot be imported automatically.

  • Emails aren't sending correctly.
Simplero automatically adds the required SPF and DKIM records, but only after your domain is fully connected and verified.
