Introduction to Lists
Hello there. This is lists. So a list is where people get to opt in for something, a main thing, like your main newsletter, or it can be a Calvin. It can be a wait list for something. It can be tha...

Creating a List and Importing Subscribers
In this guide... Creating a list Configuring Confirmation(aka Double opt-in) Importing Subscribers Manually Upload CSV file Copy from Current List Create a signup form Choose the list content To Create a List Select Contacts from your Simplero Dashboard Select Lists from the dropdown menu Select the blue Create new list button in the upper right corner: Give your list a name: This will create the list and take you to the Configure tab: Setting up Confirmation (aka Double opt-in) Simplero has a default confirmation set-up but if you would like to edit it and personalize it you can do so in the Configure tab of your list. Select Contacts from your Simplero Dashboard Select Lists from the dropdown menu Select the list you want to edit Select the Configure tab Note that Double opt-in is automatically enabled. You can toggle it on or off as desired. Edit your Confirmation email by selecting Customize the confirmation email:  Click the blue Save changes button at the bottom. Adding Subscribers There are 2 ways to access the spot to add subscribers:  Subscribers Tab:  Select Contacts from your Simplero Dashboard Choose Lists from the dropdown menu Select the list you want to edit Select the Subscribers tab  Click on the red + Add subscribers button: Import Contacts Button:  Select Contacts from your Simplero Dashboard Choose Lists from the dropdown menu Select the list you want to edit Click on the white Import contacts button in the top right-hand corner: There are 3 ways to add subscribers (from either place above): Enter Manually:  This section allows you to manually enter the names and email addresses of your subscribers. Follow either set of steps here (Subscribers tab or Import contacts button) Select the Enter manually tab: Enter the email address and name in the box, separated by a comma Choose your Options and click the blue Import button when done to add your subscribers: Upload CSV File: This feature allows you to import a list you have saved in CSV format. Before importing, make sure the encoding of the file is UTF-8. That's an indication of how special characters - basically anything but the 26 letters of the English alphabet and the digits 0-9 are stored. If it's not UTF-8, then it's probably going to get rejected by Simplero, and you'll need to change the encoding before uploading. Here's an online tool that can help you detect encoding and convert it to UTF-8. Follow either set of steps here (Subscribers tab or Import contacts button) Select the Upload file tab. Click the Choose file button to choose your subscribers list from your computer: Choose the columns. However, if you have a custom field to import, you must first add the custom field in your contacts Select Settings >> Custom fields from your Simplero Dashboard Add the field Now go back to your CSV upload process and then select the appropriate field option from the drop-down menu: Once you're happy with that, click the Save changes button *Note that if your file was downloaded as a zip file you will need to open the zip file and save the CSV file before importing * If you are migrating from another mail platform check out our guides on Migrating  3. Copy from the current list: Follow either set of steps here (Subscribers tab or Import contacts button) Choose Copy From Current List Choose which list or product you want to copy your subscribers from Click on Copy now Create a Signup Form Navigate to the Signup Forms tab on your list. Choose to either create a Full landing page or an Embedded form and follow the instructions in these guides for the next steps: Full Page Landing Pages Embedded Landing Pages Content The content tab in your list can be used to give a customer a freebie opt-in such as access to a membership site or a downloadable product. Select Contacts from your Simplero Dashboard Select Lists from the dropdown menu Select the list you want to give access to content Select the Content tab: Click the white + Add file button under the Lead magnet content section to add media files OR Add or create a Site under the Sites, Courses, Groups section to give them access to a membership site Scroll down and click the blue Save changes button

List Confirmation
A double opt-in is an email that’s sent to a customer to confirm their desire to subscribe to a list: Why We Do Double Opt-In When someone signs up, we have no way of knowing whether the email address they entered on the signup form actually belongs to the person who entered it. Anyone who knows your email address could put that into any signup form out there. That sucks. So without double opt-in, we have no certainty that it was actually that person who wanted to get emails, and that can be a problem if that person decides to go after you for spamming. Having the electronic paper trail of a double opt-in keeps you safe. Our double opt-in feature is designed to solve this problem 💥 It's true that some people are not going to confirm. They forget. They change their minds. They get busy. The email doesn't reach them. Whatever the situation, you will lose a small percentage of subscribers. Why Double Opt-in Gets You More Sales It’s also true that the subscribers you do get will be more committed. They've actively confirmed, which means you know everyone on there really does want your emails. That's a good feeling to have. There's also a psychological trigger known as Commitment and Consistency that'll start playing in your favour. What it says is basically that we have a tendency to stay congruent with our earlier choices, no matter how small. So the simple act of confirming their wish to receive your emails is going to make them more likely to want to continue to receive and read your emails, and possibly even buy from you later. In short, it's always a good idea to require double opt-in. Also know that if the person has already confirmed their subscription for one list, we don't require them to confirm again when subscribing to another list. Once per business should be enough. The only times I wouldn't do a double-opt-in is if I'm making a quick throw-away list for, like a party invitation or something, where it's really no big deal. Writing a Compelling Confirmation Email The next piece is to make sure you write a compelling confirmation email: In the email, remind them why they signed up. Remind them of the benefit to them: The free gift they receive, or the awesome insider tips, or whatever it is. You really need to make sure that you seal the deal in that email. Use the text on the button wisely. Maybe they want to click that button. That's it! You're in the clear, legally. People get their stuff and they're going to love you more and buy more from you. What's not to like about that? How it works Someone requests to be added to your email list by adding their name and email to your signup form. Simplero sends them an email asking them to confirm. They need to click a special link in this email in order to be put on the list. Once they've clicked the link, their subscription is active, and they will receive auto-responses, have access to freebie content, and anything else that comes with being a subscriber on the list. Unconfirmed list subscribers When you're using double opt-in ("requires confirmation") on your list, it will mean that some of the people who subscribe may not confirm their subscription. A typical unconfirmed rate is between 5% and 20% of signups. There are many possible explanations for why people don't confirm their subscriptions: They change their minds They get worried about spam and whether they can easily opt-out again They realize they're already subscribed with another email address They get busy with other stuff and forget They forget why they signed up They can't figure out how to click the link (if they can't click the link, chances are they won't be buying from you anyway) Their mail client makes it difficult to click the link Someone else signed them up by entering their email address in the form They mistyped their email They deliberately wrote a bogus email in the field It's some kind of bot that for God knows what reason, enters bogus email addresses into your form The confirmation request email gets mis-filed in their junk folder The confirmation request email gets deleted by their email provider because they think it's a spam One thing you can do is be very explicit about:  The fact that they’ll need to confirm their subscription Why they need to go through that cumbersome step (prevents spam) What benefits confirming will bestow upon them   The benefits should be iterated both on the web page they’re redirected to after signing up that says "you need to click the link to confirm your subscription", as well as in the email requesting confirmation.   If you want to research this for your own list, write a random sample of the unconfirmed people and ask them if they've gotten the confirmation request email, and why they haven't clicked the link to confirm. That should give you a good indication of where the problem may lie in your case.   There's usually no silver bullet, but the more "holes" you close, the better confirmation rates you'll get. Resend email asking for confirmation If your subscribers didn’t confirm their subscriptions to your list, you can remind them to do so. Head to Lists >> Choose the list >> Subscribers Select the tab Unconfirmed Add a checkmark to the contact(s) Click select action and select Resend email asking for confirmation or just select the Resend Icon (an envelope):

Manage Your Lists
Below are some of the best practices for managing your lists and contacts.  House List Most businesses should have one main email list that they send regular newsletters or emails to. In Simplero, this will be the list marked with a little house next to it.  The house list, we call it affectionately. If you have multiple distinct audiences, you might have several main lists. When you send broadcasts, you want to always send them to your house list, unless it's specific to one of your sub-lists.  Additional or Sub-Lists Create sub-lists for events, webinars, or opt-ins. While it's important to create sub-lists for specific events, webinars, or opt-ins, you still want to add those subscribers to your main list, so they receive your regular emails and newsletters. For campaigns, typically, it's best to wait until the campaign is over before you add subscribers to your main list. To add subscribers to your main list: Navigate to Contacts>>Lists on your dashboard menu: Select your House or Main list: Select the Import contacts button and then Copy from other tab. Select from Lists or Products and mark the options you want for your Import options and Auto responses: Click the blue Copy now button to save. For evergreen funnels or special offers, you can add subscribers to your main list right away. In this case, the easiest way is to set up a trigger on the sub-list that also adds subscribers to the main list. You can temporarily pause emails to that list while subscribers are in the funnel by using triggers or adding a step in your automation funnel.  Check out our guide on triggers for more on setting those up.  When you're done with a sub-list, just click the little star next to the list on the overview, and we'll hide it from then on. It's not too hard to find - but this way, it won't clutter up your main list screen anymore: Again, we want to emphasize that unless a broadcast is specific to sub-lists, it's always best to email the main house list. If you have your sub-lists set up with a trigger to auto-add everyone to the main newsletter, you won't have to worry about missing any contacts!   Adding to Your House List From a Product When you send newsletters and sales promos, we always encourage sending them to your house list, so it's a good idea to get people from your products into your main list. This can be done through a trigger on the product or by having an option on the order form allowing the customers to choose if they want to be on that list. On the Order form tab for your Product, you’ll see three options under Options >> Email opt-in check box: Default: The opt-in check box on the order form will add them to your House List. The check box label will use the default label you added via Settings >> Privacy >> GDPR consent message for the checkout form: Because this label is default and account-wide, it will automatically translate to the customer’s browser language (as long as you didn’t force the order form to be in your default language under Account Settings >> Localisation). Custom: This allows you to override the label and sub-label for the opt-in check box. You can also choose a different list other than your House List to add them to when they check the box: None: This removes the check box from the order form altogether: Importing a List From Another Server When you import subscribers to a current list, you'll want to do so before turning your Autoresponders ON or adding a Trigger to the list to start an automation. This way, previous subscribers don't receive the welcome sequence a second time: If the import is made via Upload file, activate the checkbox at the bottom to not send auto-responses/welcome emails: How Does Simplero Remove Duplicate Emails When Sending a Broadcast to Multiple Audiences?  Great question! When sending a single broadcast to multiple audiences (or “classifications), Simplero will automatically remove the duplicate emails. Let's say you have a customer named Sally in all four of the following classifications: Zebras Rock (the house list) Apples and Bananas (tag) Xylophone Course (product) Laughing Hyenas (segment) If you send a single broadcast to all four classifications, Simplero will remove duplicate emails from those classifications in alphabetical order. In the example above, this means the broadcast would get sent to Sally once, via the Apples & Bananas tag.  This isn't ideal, as Sally can't unsubscribe from a tag or a segment. That's why we always recommend sending broadcasts to a list or a sublist. This way, your contact can unsubscribe. We encourage our users to not overdo it with sending broadcasts to multiple classifications. If a contact is on more than one classification, they have to unsubscribe from each one separately to stop getting emails from you. It's best to make it easy for your contacts to know what they've signed up for by adding them to a minimal number of lists with easily understandable names. This makes for a better user experience overall 🎉

Deleting a List
Deleting a List Select Contacts from your Simplero Dashboard Select Lists from the dropdown menu Select the list you want to delete Select the 3 dots in the upper right side of the Navigation Bar. Then press the Delete button: Click OK on the popup to confirm your request to delete your list: Note that this will also delete any sign-up forms and auto-responses on that list.  However, it will not delete the actual contact records of your subscribers - just their association with the list.
Lists
Subscription: Auto-subscribe, Unsubscribe, Suspend, Resume
Auto-subscribe and Auto-unsubscribe These are special links that you can insert into a broadcast, auto-response, or library email, which, when the recipient clicks it, will auto subscribe them or unsubscribe them to/from the list you copied the link from. One of the things that it's particularly useful for is a one-click opt-in to a list. You can use this for a super quick opt-in to an event, to set up a sublist for people who are interested in a given topic or product, and so much more 🎉 Just grab the link, insert it into an email, broadcast or auto-response, and you're good to go! Select Contacts from your Simplero Dashboard Select Lists from the dropdown menu Select your list Click on the ink icon in the top right corner to see the links for Auto subscribe URL and Auto unsubscribe URL: Click the clipboard icon next to Subscribe or Unsubscribe to copy the URL Insert this link into an email, broadcast or auto-response REMINDER: These links don't do anything on their own. They only work when you put them in a broadcast, auto-response, library email or "Thank You Page", and only when you send it out for real, not in a preview. Also, we’ll show a successful page as soon as they subscribe/unsubscribe using these links (using your company logo): Unless you’ve set up your own Custom Page in the List Content tab: Other Unsubscribe Options Aside from giving your customer the option to unsubscribe in an email body with the auto-unsubscribe link, Simplero offers them the option to unsubscribe in the footer of your email broadcast.  By clicking that unsubscribe link, your customers are taken to their account page where they can see all the lists they’re subscribed to and edit their subscriptions.  Unsubscribe from All Lists Often times a customer will unsubscribe from a list not realizing they’re on multiple lists with you. In turn, they get upset when they continue to get emails. If they email you, we recommend two things... First: As we mentioned above, be sure to direct them to the guide on how to unsubscribe themselves.   Second: Be sure to always send emails to your main newsletter list unless they’re specific to a sub-list or product.  Of course, if you desire to automate it for them you can add a trigger to the list - so when someone unsubscribes, they’ll also be unsubscribed from all lists.  Suspend or Resume a List Subscription This is useful if you want people to go through an introductory sequence when they subscribe to your list, and you don't want them to get your normal newsletters until the intro sequence is over. It’s also great if you’re using a sublist that filters to your house list, but don't want your subscribers to get emails from both at the same time.  Here's what to do: Create a trigger on Subscribe that starts an automation Create a trigger on Unsubscribe that stops the automation (This is important! Otherwise they'll keep getting your intro sequence even after they've unsubscribed, and we don't want that) The first step of the automation is to suspend the subscription to the list that you want to pause emails from The last step of the automation is to resume the subscription to that same list In-between you can do anything you want—emails, texts, webhooks… all of the fun stuff ✨

Retargeting Not-Engaged Subscribers
As an online business owner, there are times when you might want to find subscribers that have not engaged with you lately. You might want to reconnect with them (this is called retargeting) or perform an action on a group of contacts, like providing access to a membership site or updating their lead score.  Often people just want to run a cleanup and get rid of old subscribers and dead leads who count as a contact in your Simplero account, but aren't likely to bring in future business.  While you may consider deleting contacts that have been unsubscribed from your list for a while or have marked themselves as "Do not contact", in Simplero we recommend cleaning up contacts that didn’t re-engage after going through a retarget process. This guide will show you how to locate these subscribers and give you some options for what to do with them.   Note: To target unengaged subscribers, you will need to first activate the Unengaged Contacts Tracking feature in Simplero. You can do this under your settings - unengaged contacts. More details on this guide But First, a Few Helpful Definitions  Not engaged during… - A filter you can set to see who is not opening/clicking on your emails during a certain period. Unconfirmed - People who signed up for your list but didn't click the link in your double opt-in confirmation email. They're not considered active subscribers to your list. Inactive - A list view that includes people who are unconfirmed, haven't given you GDPR consent, and/or have opted for "Do Not Contact." Unsubscribed - Contacts who requested to be excluded from the list content.  Do not contact - Your subscribers will have the option to mark themselves as "Do not Contact". They’ll be unsubscribed from all lists automatically and excluded from any further communications. Locate Not-Engaged Subscribers Within a Specific List Select Contacts from your Simplero Dashboard. Select Lists from the dropdown menu. Select the List you want to search. Select the Subscribers tab. Click the Filter option and select Not engaged during...  Select your Date Range or click the hyperlink for This month, Last month, This quarter, etc.  Click the blue Apply button. This will give you a custom view of your not-engaged subscribers for that specific list during the time period you chose. In your filtered not-engaged list, you can then select a subscriber and pick an action from the list. You can add the subscriber to a new list, unsubscribe them from a list, start them in a re-engagement automation, assign them a tag, or something else: Click the box next to their name and click the Select action drop-down list to perform an action. Once you select an action, a pop-up screen will open, and you can complete it. If you’d like to delete a subscriber: Check the box next to his/her name. Click the Select action drop-down list and select the Add a tag option. Type to create a Tag or select a tag from your drop-down list and click the blue Add a tag button: Select Contacts from your Simplero Dashboard. Select the Tags tab: Click on the Tag you've just created. If you want to delete all the contacts in this tag, click the box at the top of the list of names to select all contacts: Review the list carefully before deleting. Keep in mind it is not possible to restore multiple contacts simultaneously once they've been deleted. Click the Select action drop-down list. Select the Delete option and click OK to confirm your action. OR simply press the trashcan icon: Locate Not-Engaged Subscribers Via a Segment It's always best practice to go with locating not-engaged subscribers via the list option above. However, there might come a time when you prefer to see a particular segment, such as the people who weren't engaged for a specific series of emails.  NOTE: If you use this method and send the same broadcasts to multiple lists, it won't return the desired results.   Here's how to find not-engaged subscribers using a segment:  Select Contacts from your Simplero Dashboard Select the Segments tab from the dropdown menu Click the red Create a segment button in the upper right corner: In the Include section, select any lists or emails you want to remove not-engaged subscribers from. For example, if it's for a specific Broadcast, select the Group Type "Broadcast recipients" and choose the Broadcast Name as the Source: In the Exclude section, click the + Add exclude... button to select any lists or broadcasts you sent during the period you're interested in.   For example: If you want to find anyone who hasn’t opened an email in the last six months, then exclude all broadcasts sent to the list during that time. To do this, you would select the Type "Broadcast Recipients" and choose all the broadcasts that were sent over the past six months as the Source. Make sure to click the Add Member Group button. After these steps, you'll have a segment of people who haven't opened an email in the last six months or whatever time frame you selected. So, Now What?  You have a few options for what to do with this segment or custom view:  Perform an Action You can "perform an action” in two places.  1. If you’re locating the not-engaged subscribers through the list: Once you have that view, check the boxes next to their names, and a drop-down menu will appear at the top where you can choose the action: Remember that if you would like to delete these not-engaged subscribers, you need to give them a tag. Go to Contacts >> Tags and select the tag you just created. Then click the box at the top of the list of names to select all the contacts in that tag and use the drop-down menu to delete them (see instructions above for "how to delete subscribers"). Remember to review the list prior to deleting. 2.  If you created the list via a segment: Go back to your Segments and select the segment you want to perform an action on. Then look in the upper right corner and click the Perform action... button: The Trigger screen will appear so you can select the action: To delete contacts on the segment, click on the "View contacts" icon at the bottom of the segment:   You'll be redirected to the Contacts view with the segment filter applied to it. Check the box next to the contacts and select the action delete: Retarget You can set up an automation that sends an email or series of emails to the selected group to retarget them for engagement. To do this, perform an action to put these people in a new list and start that new list in the automation. Unsubscribe If you want to unsubscribe not-engaged subscribers from your list, perform an action and choose “Unsubscribe from a list.” Select the list you searched to create your custom view, the list you added in the include section of the segment, or the lists the broadcasts were sent to. You'll also be able to unsubscribe them from all lists if you want to delete them eventually or run a contact cleanup: If you’ve been through your not-engaged contacts and already went the extra mile to retarget those possible leads, but there are still some contacts you haven't heard back from… It might be time to consider cleaning up those contacts you could be getting billed for and that, at the end of the day, aren’t returning any value to your business.

Preventing SPAM Contacts
Simplero has a number of options to prevent spammers from ending up on your contact list.  Custom Anti-Bot Settings on Your List: There are 3 Custom Anti-Bot Settings you can choose from to help the system verify that the subscriber is not a bot: On Suspicious Signups - this option is selected by default. If Simplero detects that a user signing up to your list is suspicious, we make them go through an extra step (Captcha) to first confirm they're human.  There is a long algorithm and series of checks we do to determine what is "suspicious."  On All Signups - we will require the extra step (Captcha) from all signees Never - we will never require Captcha from your signees Altcha on Your Survey: We use Altcha (similar to Captcha) on surveys. This is to help prevent bot submissions. At the moment, Altcha cannot be toggled on or off (it’s ON by default) - so you don’t have to do anything to use it. This is what it looks like in action: Filter to Find Suspicious Contacts You can also head to your Contacts page and press the Name / Email / Simplero ID column to reorder the contacts alphabetically: That way you can see if you have any contacts with no names. Oftentimes if you see several contacts with no names, this can indicate that they’re spam contacts. You can also spot-check a specific list via Contacts >> Lists >> Subscribers to see if there are any spammy signups in the mix. NOTE! Even though lots of work has been done to combat spam in Simplero, it's possible that some Spam still slips through. If you notice an increased rise in spam, please contact Simpero Support and we'll see if there's something we can do.

5 Kick @$$ Strategies to Build your List
It can feel daunting.  You've got a great idea. You think people will be interested - maybe you even have a handful of people interested already.  But you want more handfuls of people. ALL THE HANDFULS. 🤩 How do you find the perfect people who want what you have to offer?   There are five basic, time-tested strategies to do this.   So buckle up!  Here we go.  🚎  Next stop = Subscribers.  🚎 Strategy 1: Offer them something  AKA: a freebie, free offer, opt in offer, lead magnet, downloadable...  This is the easiest, oldest strategy we'll list here.  Many many many people are happy to give you their email address and permission to contact them again in exchange for your offer.   Your lead magnet doesn't have to be complicated.  It can be… a PDF a ebook a short course  a video or videos access to existing membership or course for a limited period of time a short consultation with you to address a specific problem Don't overthink it and don't undersell the value you can give with these types of offers.   If you know your audience and you speak to their hearts with the offer, they will opt in.  Simplero resource: Set up your Freebie Giveaway External resource: Content Marketing - Ebooks External resource: The secret to finding your first 1,000 subscribers External resource: How GDPR affects online businesses Here's a visual of a typical subscriber flow for a freebie campaign in Simplero:   Strategy 2: Engage with them as an expert AKA: run a free Facebook group, publish content to Linked In, etc I, personally, love this one.  It's accessible, doesn't cost anything, and creates multiple pay-offs for your business.  You never know who you’ll meet and what that’ll result in. Before you run your own free Facebook group or start publishing content to LinkedIn (or whatever platform you love) - it's a good idea to spend some time in OTHER people's groups / pages.   Position yourself as an expert by answering questions, offering advice and dropping links to things you've found helpful.  Build up a reputation.  Then go out and do the same in your group.   This one often feeds into Strategy 1. You can leverage this group into list subscribers by offering your lead magnet.  Voilà!  More people to send your great content to and to offer to sell your courses, membership sites or whatever.  Simplero resource: Post your sign up form to Facebook External resource: 5 Ways to Convert Free Users Into Lifelong Customers External resource: How to leverage Facebook groups for building an email list Strategy 3: Form partnerships Chances are good that your perfect audience and someone else's perfect audience are the same, or very very similar.   So figure out who else in your niche already has the audience who would ALSO love your content and offers.  Reach out to them with an offer for something that their audience would truly benefit from.  This can't be about serving yourself.  It has to be about serving your audience.  Providing your audience (which is also their audience) with something meaningful.  Something that doesn't compete with the offerings of the person you’re reaching out to!  This takes some thought.  And it's scary to put yourself out there.  But it's a great way to reach the people who need what you have.  Simplero resource: How to execute a partnership External resource: Use Guest Emailing to get promoted to another's list Strategy 4: Run a webinar (but call it a free training) People are happy to sign up for your email list in exchange for some specialized knowledge, and, if it's a live training, the chance to ask you questions. This doesn't have to be complicated technically.  You can… build a great landing page for it in Simplero use that to sign people up for a list in Simplero and send them reminder emails use Zoom or something similar to offer the training download the video recording of the session email the replay to everyone who signed up 💥 BOOM 💥 The content for this training can be the 'next level' version of whatever you’re using for a lead magnet.  Or it could be something entirely different that your audience also needs.  If you're not sure what to teach on - ask your 20 most engaged current subscribers!  What would they most love to learn about.  Make them feel special when you ask...   External resource: What is a webinar, and why do one Strategy 5: Develop a quiz This one is more complicated. It's a lot of work to do it well - but it's also delivers big time.   People love to learn about themselves. Quizzes satisfy that universal desire for self discovery. We're drawn to them like magnets. We can't help ourselves. But for this to work, you have to really know your audience deeply.  What are their fears, their hopes, their secret desires?  What do their shadow sides look like?   Maybe that sounds dramatic, but you want to get inside their heads and hearts so your quiz will be meaningful to them.   External resource: How to Build Your Email List Using Quizzes External resource: How to make a quiz (three types of lead quizzes and how to use each) External resource: Try Interact (which integrates with Simplero)

Create a List Opt-in Form
You have two choices of opt-in forms which include:       So what is the right one for you? It all depends on what you’re looking for, so let's assess the difference: A full-page landing page is ideal when you have more information to convey. A great example of this would be if you have a list sign-up for a webinar. Here you’d want to convey to them the date, why they want to be on your webinar and what they will learn. Bottom line is, your opt-in needs to be more like a sales page and not a pop-up box - so a full page landing page is the way to go.  Embedded opt-in forms are great when you don't have a lot of information to convey to your lead before getting them on a list. An example would be getting them on your newsletter email list. Here you’d only need to convey to them that is what they’re doing, and then collect their name and email. Embedded opt-in forms are generally pop up boxes that could appear if your lead clicks a link, or scrolls to a certain point on a page. Or maybe it comes up when they land on a page of your website or when they try to exit. But it can also exist as a permanent form on your website home page (or any page you desire). Use the Raw HTML code if you want to use the form somewhere else. This type of signup form has no styling from Simplero.  You add the styling in whatever system you use to display the form, such as a WordPress page, Leadpage or WebinarJam. You can't make any edits within Simplero to this form. Related content For step-by-step instructions on creating Full page landing pages, check out this guide.  For step by step instructions on creating and embedding opt-in forms, check out this guide.  Occasionally the need may arise to have more than one opt-in form on a single landing page. Maybe you have one webinar being held on different dates. We make that easy with the creation of a single landing page mixed with multiple embedded opt-in forms. Utilizing More Than One Opt-in Form
Did you know you can use more than one opt-in form on the same page? Having multiple opt-in forms gives you a greater opportunity to gather customer information and start building valuable relationships. It takes a minute to get it all set up, but this could be a great option for your business! Here's how to use more than one opt-in form:  Create each of your opt-in forms (see instructions here). Create your landing page (see instructions here). Make sure you have a button or text on each opt-in form that will be used to trigger that form: Go to your first opt-in form and copy the Manual Trigger code for multiple opt-ins: Select Marketing >> Landing Pages Go to the Opt-in tab and filter by the List. Click on the Embedded landing page Stay on the Content tab and scroll down to the Manual trigger code In the Manual trigger section, copy this code (<a href="#simplero-landing-page-171284">Show the form</a>) and paste it into a blank Notepad or Word document: Go to your second opt-in form and copy the embed code: Select Marketing >> Landing Pages Go to the Opt-in tab and filter by the List. Click on the Embedded landing page Stay on the Content tab and scroll down to the Embed Code section Copy this code (<script async id="_simplero_landing_page_js_171290" src="https://simplerosupport.simplero.com/page/171290.js"></script>) Go back to your Notepad or Word document where you copied the Manual trigger code. Within the Manual trigger code, find where it says "Show the form" and replace that text with the Easy embed code:  Manual trigger code: <a href="#simplero-landing-page-171284">Show the form</a> Easy embed code: <script async id="_simplero_landing_page_js_171290" src="https://simplerosupport.simplero.com/page/171290.js"></script> Your code should end up looking like this:  <a href="#simplero-landing-page-171284"><script async id="_simplero_landing_page_js_171290" src="https://simplerosupport.simplero.com/page/171290.js"></script></a> Copy all the code from your Notepad or Word document and paste it into the code of your landing page. Repeat steps 3-7 for each opt-in form: Note: One opt-in can be an auto pop up, but the others need to be manual as it gets messy if they're all set to automatically pop up.

Troubleshooting Opt-in Form Issues
If your Opt-in Form is not appearing on your website, we encourage you to check out the settings and be sure you don't have limits set that have been reached.  Select Marketing >> Landing pages >> Embedded tab Locate and select the signup form name Select the Settings button on the header's top right corner: If the landing page Presentation is set to Modal, scroll down to the Restrict Views section and check your settings.  If you want the same person to see this opt-in every time, set your limit to 0 days and 1000 times: If the landing page Presentation is set to Inline, scroll down to the Already Converted section, select to "Show message" or "Show the form". Otherwise if you select “Show nothing” and you’ve already opted in yourself, but then try and view again, it will not show: When “Someone submits a signup form” trigger doesn't send out the email If you have this trigger set up and it doesn’t fire, check if the list has Double opt-in enabled via List >> Configure: If it does, we won't send an email unless they’ve already confirmed their subscription. If they haven’t confirmed their subscription, their status will be Unconfirmed under List >> Subscribers: Since the trigger fires right after submission, they might not have confirmed their subscription yet by the time we've fired the trigger. We suggest you set up an automation instead of sending the email directly if your list has Double opt-in turned On. Using a SquareSpace Website? When using SquareSpace you cannot utilize the function that allows the pop up to disappear if someone has already converted and if they've seen it "x" amounts of times. If you’ve set up those settings in Simplero, then the opt-in will not appear on your SquareSpace site at all - so you need to verify they’re not active.  Also when inserting the code into Square Space the correct block to use is called a "content block". This is where you’ll paste your embed code.

Auto-Responders
When someone joins your list, you probably want to nurture that relationship so they’ll eventually become a product buying, money paying customer. Am I right? Simplero offers two great ways to do this; Autoresponders and Automations.  Autoresponders are simple emails that are automatically sent based on a specific number of days after someone joins a list.  Automations give you a bit more flexibility, as they can be scheduled based on a specific date, number of weeks, months, or even based on certain behaviours.  If you're using an autoresponder, you can add triggers to it or release pages via the standard drip-function. If you're using an automation, you can use the same steps - however, they would be separate action steps in your automation.  If you're not sure which one is the best fit for you, check out this guide. Auto-Responders Auto-responses are available for lists and products. You'll normally always have at least one auto-response, which is sent out immediately after someone subscribes or makes a purchase. This is the "thank you" email, letting people know that they're awesome for joining your list or buying your product. You always want this auto-responder. (And making it a little fun and more personal helps a lot 😉) But you can also add as many other auto-responses as you'd like with emails that are spaced out over any desired time frame. These emails can be sent out after 1 day, 2 days, a week, or on any other schedule. This is a nice way to give people encouragement over time, to drip-deliver content, and to stretch the engagement over a longer period. In an auto-response, you can link to media files or just deliver content within the email itself. Creating an Auto-Responder Select Contacts >> Lists or Sales >> Products from your Simplero Dashboard. Select the List or Product you want to create an auto-response for. Select the Auto-Responses tab. Click the red + Add auto-response button: Enter the Subject and When to send your auto-response and click the Add auto-response button. Complete your auto-response information: Subject: What customers see in the subject line. Internal Name: What admin screen calls the email (only you can see this). Press the blue + Internal name link on the right-side to add this. Email body: Type the email you want for this auto-response. Triggers: This section is not required for an autoresponder, but it does allow you to have the system perform an automated action when the autoresponder is sent. Check out our guide on triggers for more information about how they work.  Click the blue Save changes button. Then when you are ready to make your auto-response active, click the little grey button that says Draft, and it will change to Active: At the bottom of the page, below the email body box, you'll have checkboxes next to each page and course content that is set to drip. If you tick those boxes, the auto-response will give access to that content as soon as it is sent.  Note: The list or product needs to be giving access to the site/course through the content in order to use that option If you need to re-order your auto-responses, you can change the number of days that they will go out after, or you can grab the whole auto-response by clicking the six grey dots next to the subject line and drag and drop it where you want: What happens when you change auto-responses while people are already on the list? Auto-responses are sent out based on the timeframe you set. So if someone signed up exactly 7 days ago today, and you add or have an auto-response that goes out 7 days after signup, they'll get it now. If you add or have one that goes out 8 days after signup, they'll get it tomorrow. If you add or have one that goes out 6 days after signup, they've missed it. You can view auto-responses in your admin interface and see how many people missed it (those who subscribed longer than when they should've received it, but still haven't). Next to that number is a button that will send the auto-response to those recipients right away: Pausing Auto-responses in a purchase It might happen that your customer changes their mind and they want to stop receiving your content for a while. If you are delivering your content via auto-response, you can pause the auto-response series from your purchase screen. In the participant section of the screen, click on the date next to “auto-responder started at” and then click “pause”: You can then resume at any time: After resuming, the auto-responder will continue from the day that you pause it. For example, if you pause it on day 1, it will continue from day 2 when you resume it, regardless of how many days you keep it paused. Creating an Automation We have a series of guides focused on automations here. Automations are used to build out a sales funnel, drip content for your Evergreen program, or even simply send out a series of emails (like autoresponders do). There are times when it's better to use an automation instead of autoresponders. One case is if you want to exclude people from getting the autoresponders. For example, if you want to get people from your list to buy a specific product(s), and you want to exclude the people who have purchased the product already, then you'd want to use an automation. With this process, as people purchase the product, the series of emails won't continue going out to the purchasers.  Another example is if you want multiple sublists in your account to receive the set of autoresponders. In this case, you may want to consider entering them into an automation and then adding a trigger to each list that starts that automation.  Converting an Existing Autoresponder Series Into an Automation We know that many of you have autoresponders currently set up for your products and lists, and copying them over to an automation sounds time-consuming. But don't worry, it's not! And it’ll be well worth the time to have all the flexibility that automations provide. Here's how to do it: Head to Contacts >> Lists or Sales >> Products from your Simplero Dashboard. Select the List or Product with the Auto-Responder Series that you want to convert to an automation. Select the Auto-Responses tab. Click the "..." button at the header's far right to Convert to automation... and click OK to confirm that you really want to convert to an automation: Voilà! The conversion will happen in the background, and you’ll be notified when it’s complete. If you head to Marketing >> Automations, you’ll see your converted automation at the top of the list: You can now also direct other lists to this same automation. If your autoresponders are the same in several places, go to those other lists/products, shut off the autoresponders, and add two triggers to start and stop this automation upon subscribing and unsubscribing.  But what happens to your list/product? Everything is done for you! The autoresponders you just converted have now been turned off: The start and stop triggers to control people being in the automation based on their subscribing and unsubscribing activity have automatically been created for you: All the emails are now in your email library with the same internal name as they had when they were an autoresponder so that you can easily use them again and again in other automations or as broadcasts.  There's really nothing else for you to do unless you want to go back and rename the emails in your email library (to remind yourself where they came from if they're list or program-specific, for example). Maximum size of Emails The maximum size of email attachments is 20 MB. If you attach anything over that, we will show a warning. If you ignore it, the auto-response will not go out.  In this case, we will send a notification to the admin of your account with the title: Your email has not been sent. You will have to correct your email size and any pending emails will be sent automatically once you fix this issue.

Resending Auto-responders
Resending to Missed Contacts There may be times when you decide to add an autoresponder to your list and want it to go out to people who are already on the list. There is a quick and easy solution for this: At the top of the edit screen, above the Subject area, you will see the MISSED BY # (WHO?) and below that there is a white button that says "Send now": Select that Send now button, and the autoresponder will be sent to anyone currently on the list who did not receive the autoresponder Resending Auto-responders to Re-subscribers Do you have an opt-in such as a quiz or freebie where people might subscribe more than once without unsubscribing first? Do you want to be sure that they get the auto-responders again and again? We have a solution for that.  Convert autoresponders to an automation: If there are some of the auto-response emails you only want people to receive the first time they sign up, turn them off by toggling them to DRAFT before converting, and then turn them back on by toggling them to ACTIVE afterward so they are not included in the automation. Make sure not to turn the auto-responses used in the automation back on after the conversion turns them off, otherwise, people will get them twice. Edit your automation settings to allow contacts to enter more than once:  Select Marketing >> Automations from your Simplero Dashboard Locate and select the Auto-response name Click the Settings icon in the upper right corner In the Advanced section, make sure Only allow a given contact to run this automation once is toggled OFF: Click the Save changes button Change the start automation trigger from being on subscription activated, to being on "Asked to be subscribed..." Select Lists & Contacts from your Simplero Dashboard From the Lists tab, select the list with the automation trigger you want to change Select the Content tab Scroll down to the Triggers section and click the Pencil icon on the right side to edit the trigger: The Edit trigger screen will open. Click the drop-down arrow and change the start automation trigger from being on Subscription Activated to being on Asked to be subscribed (whether already subscribed or not): Click the Save changes button Now whenever anyone completes your opt-in they will be able to receive your autoresponders in the automation at any time.  Resetting Auto-responders Do you want your customers to get all the auto-responder emails again? To do that: Go to your list - subscribers tab OR to your product - participants tab Select the contacts that you want to reset the auto-responses for Click on Select action Choose Reset auto-responses for a list subscriber (if on a list) OR Reset auto-responses for a product participant (if on a product) Done! Your customers will start receiving the auto-responses again.  Note: When resetting auto-responses for a participant on a product, only the auto-responses set to be sent after day 0 get resent. When resetting auto-responses for a subscriber on a list, all of the auto-responses get resent, including those set to day 0.

Deadline-Funnels
Deadline-funnels are a great way to boost sales and business growth, and now you can create them in Simplero!  What's a Deadline-Funnel and How Does it Work? The idea is you make an offer that, for example, is only available for 48 hours after people opt-in, and your emails and landing pages include a countdown timer to that point in time, to add urgency to the decision. An example of a Deadline-funnel setup would be: Have a List signup that sends an autoresponse The Autoresponse has a countdown and a link to a landing page The landing page has a countdown and a link to the product order form with a secret price Your core feature to set up a deadline funnel is the Countdown timer. Setting up a Deadline-Funnel Using a List Sign-Up Model Create your list and Auto-response including a Countdown timer: Setup your countdown timer. Choose Count down to a period after activation to make the timer Evergreen (so it counts down from the time each client signs up for your list or purchases your product). In the example below, the countdown will run until two days after the user signs up to this list: Create a landing page and include a countdown timer section. Note that you will need to choose a landing page with the Legacy Builder for now (this feature is not available yet on the 2.0 Builder): Setup the same time period and customize an end countdown message too!  Add a link to the product secret price: Include the link to this landing page in the list Auto-response by clicking on the link icon in the Landing Page Settings to copy it: Then paste it into the Auto-response (using the full URL, a hyperlink or a button): Other Setup Examples Products >> lead to a deadline-offer via an auto-response sent right after purchase: Automations >> instead of using the Auto-responses tab, fire an automation with purchase/subscription triggers via the Content Tab of the Product/List under the Automations section: In the automation, include an email with the countdown feature and the link to the landing page with the countdown section! Broadcasts >> insert a countdown on your broadcast as well as the link to the landing page. Make sure your recipients are either list subscribers or participants of a product: Note! If we don’t have activation at info, the page section will count down from the specified fixed time.
